Dear Friends:

Another year has come and gone and with the help and assistance of concerned and caring people like you, we have been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many men, women and children, right here on Long Island. We are proud to say that we have been true to our Foundation's mission statement which is "to improve the welfare of men, women, and children, especially on Long Island."

2010-2011 was a very busy year for the NYBKW Charitable Foundation as we volunteered countless hours and donated thousands of dollars to help those in need. For the 2011-2012 giving season, The NYBKW Charitable Foundation is again gearing up to make a significant impact.

Please join us and help assist these and other worthy causes!

Our fundraising goal this season is $50,000.

DATE of FUNDRAISER POSTPONED TILL EARLY 2012

In order to kick-start our fundraising efforts, we would like to extend a personal invitation to you to attend a cocktail party in early 2012. At the cocktail party, we will have a special presentation by a leading physician from the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center. You won’t want to miss it.

Kindly consider donating a sum that will help make a meaningful impact in the lives of many men, women, and especially children right here on Long Island that will benefit greatly from your kindness and generosity.

Please know that for our Foundation to achieve its goal, and to be able to help the many people that rely on us, we are asking for a minimum donation of $500 or more for this fundraising event.

Our efforts include, among other initiatives:

  • For men, we are again sponsors of IMF’s Prostate Cancer Awareness race, now called the Blue Ribbon Run.
  • For women, we are again supporting the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk.
  • For children, we purchase and our NYBKW volunteers hand out ice cream to sick children and their families at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center which treats everything from childhood diseases to cancer and epilepsy.
  • Also at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center, we are committed to creating a special waiting room area with coffee service especially for parents and family members.
  • During the Holidays, we organize a Gifts for Children drive in which our volunteers collect and brings gifts to hospitalized children on Long Island. Last season we collected and delivered over $10,000 of books, toys, and clothes to kids in local hospitals.
  • We are supporting the Jordan Alex Dubrow Fund which is collecting money for critical life-saving equipment for the NICU at the North Shore University Hospital. (The fund was set up by one of our staff, Josh Dubrow and his wife, who tragically lost their new-born baby earlier this year.) We are earmarking 10% of our Fall 2011 Fundraising Campaign goal of $50,000 to the JAD Fund.
  • To help clothe the homeless on Long Island, we have created a drop-off location at our Melville lobby to collect coats and are busy reaching out to local businesses to join us in our efforts. To date, we have collected hundreds of coats to warm those in need.

The date and time of the new Fundraiser will be announced soon! We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Barry E. Berg
